Alphabet (Google) spins out its 6-year old quantum tech group, Sandbox AQ

Quantum + AI by Sandbox AQ

When combined with AI, Quantum computing provides a distinct competitive advantage to businesses. This is why major corporates and businesses are betting on Sandbox AQ. For instance, Mount Sinai – an initial customer of Sandbox AQ is one of the first healthcare systems to implement Post-Quantum cryptography (PQC) protocols into its healthcare network. The team believes this implementation will help protect its customers and transforms its business.

Similarly, the Sandbox AQ team has several other popular clientele including Vodafone Business, SoftBank mobile, Wix, and more as its initial customers. In addition, the company has many prominent investors, partners, and advisors including Eric Schmidt (former chairman and CEO of Google) named as its board advisor.

Spinning off from its parent company, Sandbox AQ has listed two primary objectives to accomplish:

  1. Creating privacy-enhancing technologies such as post-quantum cryptosystems to provide safe solutions against cybersecurity threats.
  2. Development of novel navigation systems based upon geophysical signals rather than satellites. According to Sandbox AQ, such systems will be beneficial in areas with restricted or no access to navigation satellites.

Instead of focusing on quantum computers, the Sandbox AQ team is more realistic. They intend to focus on how an intersection between quantum technology and AI can help advance cybersecurity and prevent sensitive data from getting stolen.
